Optometrist Advise please?

I wear contacts. my right eye is -4.75 my left -4.25.. when I close my left eye everything is blurry in my right eye. when i close my right eye everything is clear in my left eye. should i be able to see clear with both eyes or do the two different rx's working together make my vision clear?

  1. ORRR.....you might accidentaly have them flipped. Try reversing them and see if they clear up. If not, then I am a bonehead. (I have been one before....)


  2. It sounds like your Rx in your right eye is off. You need to get your eyes checked and get a new prescription for the right eye. If you recently had an exam, call your doctor and explain the problem. You should be able to see clearly out of each eye individually (although there are exceptions to this rule!). Call your doctor.

  3. Each of your eyes see things different but if your not seeing clear out of one even with the contact your need to let the optometrist know about the problem

  4. They should be pretty close between the two eyes.  If they are not, your doctor should have explained this to you.  I have patients who see much clearer out of one eye than the other, but I warn them about it.  If this is a new phenomenon or if you just want to know, definitely you should ask your doctor.
