Question:

Oral Thrush - After wisdom teeth removal

I just had my wisdom teeth out this last Wednesday, and last night I just came down with oral thrush from the antibiotics. I've had it before so I know what it is. My dentist is closed today (it being the weekend), but they have his personal line for pain or emergencies.

I feel bad calling the doctor on his day off... this isn't an emergency, but I'm very uncomfortable and I don't want to spend my Saturday in a walk-in clinic. Is this good grounds to call my dentist so he can prescribe me something to help?

Thanks!

  2. Yes, definitely call your dentist. You wouldn't have the number if he didn't want you to call. If he's off from working or not, if you are uncomfortable you need the appropriate treatment. He'll just explain to you what to do. It's not going to take up his whole day off. You need to get the proper medication so it can be fixed.

  3. Definitely call. A prescription for Nystatin will do the trick, and it's no trouble for your dentist to quickly call it into the pharmacy for you.

  4. yes call him, most likely he will call in a prescription for nystatin mouthwash.
