It's a franchise based cricket league of the shortest format of cricket. It's based on American NFL. It has 8 teams owned by various institutions and businessmen/celebrities of India. It doesn't have the same amount of money as NFL but for the cricketing world it's the richest tournament anywhere of any kind for any tournament. It has the most amount of money for individual players and prize money. Majority of players are Indians from the domestic and international Indian teams and the league has allowed players from international teams to play. The playing 11 can only have 4 international players at any given time but the rest can be benched and can be picked in subsequent matches. it's gained a lot of prominence in just one month of the starting of the first season.
