Question:

Orange carte or carnet?

I will be arriving in Paris on Wednesday afternoon (about noon-1pm) and leave the next Thursday morning. From my research, Orange carte runs from Sunday to Saturday. Is this true?

Should I still purchase orange cartes (2)?

Or should I just get a carnet of 10 tickets and use them as I go?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Buy the carnet of ten tickets. The Carte Orange is not suitable for such a short visit and would be a waste of money.

EDIT: The Carte Orange is valid from Monday to Sunday rather than sunday to Saturday but that doesn't change the fact that you would need to buy two of them. In any case, the objection to buying them is the same.

If there is any one given day in which you will do a LOT of traveling on public transport then you could consider buying a "mobilis" which is a one day pass which costs 5.60 euros for zones 1-2 (which is all of Paris proper).

Since a carnet brings the cost of each ticket down to 1.11 euros  you can see that the Mobilis is a good buy only if you will take the metro 6 or more times in one day.

  2. The carte orange (for a week) is issued every monday and runs till the sunday after. That will cost you 17€. A carnet will cost you 11€. I think you should get a carnet as 10 tickets are enough for one day and I don't think you'll be able to buy the carte orange on wednesday (they only sell it on Mondays). In case you decide to try for the carte orange don't forget your passport photo.

  3. orange coupons are very often a trap - if you only use them twice  a day -

buy normal tickets - anyway in Paris feet are for tourism the best transportation system - seriously !!! take good shoes

  4. je pense qu'il faut acheter une carte orange!
