With trials of pink cricket balls in Australia this week (the pink balls would potentially be used for day-night Test matches) showing up some problems with this colour could orange be the answer? The Herald Sun has reported Dilip Jajodia, managing director of Dukes – which are competing with Kookaburra to come up with a suitable ball for night Tests – says that they are the best colour for the job?

Orange balls were also apparently met with an indifferent response back in the 1990s when they were trialled in Australia. Whether new technology has improved things remains to be seen (and isn’t that one of the major problems with these rainbow coloured experiments?).
