  1. I've seen a lot of orange spots on gray whales (Eschrichtius robustus) over the years, but I've only seen one completely orange whale.  It swam into San Francisco Bay about a decade ago and made its way to Larkspur, in Marin County, but the ferry service soon ran it out of there and it headed up the Petaluma River.

It was a very young gray whale, and the reason it was bright orange is that it's tail fluke had been run over by a propellor when it was just a baby.  Because it hurt to swim, the injured baby swam very slowly, picking up lice that wouldn't be able to get a grip on a faster moving whale.  So covered with lice that it literally couldn't even open its eyes, it began migrating north with it's mother.  Swimming near the bottom, the baby sensed fresh water flowing out of San Francisco Bay under the less dense sea water, and followed it upstream.  The whale knew that fresh water wouldn't hurt it a bit but would kill the lice, so it just hung out in the river, spending as much time as possible on the bottom, where the fresh water was, until they were all gone, whereupon it left.  A clear picture of the again gray tail taken just before it disappeared, clearly showed bright white parallel scars where it had been injured.  An adult gray whale, believed to be the baby's mother, was first sighted in the Gulf of the Faralones outside San Francisco Bay the day the baby appeared, and she was last seen the day the baby left.  It is at least possible that mother and baby remained in sub-sonic vocal communication the entire time.  Several people at Black's Point, near the mouth of the Petaluma River, reported hearing a whale blowing at night, and it is quite possible that the mother snuck into the Bay under cover of darkness to nurse her baby each night.

  2. I have never heard of an orange whale. Did you smoke something, then go to SeaWorld? Or did you mean Orca Whale, maybe?

  3. The orange whale is my favorite type of whale. They are extremely fat. They eat anything they can get their greasy flippers on, i.e, their mates and children. When they eat they tend to consume 1000x what the normal large whale eats. And I must say the orange whale is probably the most harmless whale, but if it gets hungry that's an other story.

PS if you have any missing cats dogs children donuts or fish, don't be surprised if they show up in an orange whales poo.
