Question:

Orchid deflowered, new growth?

My Orchid deflowered and now there are two shoots growing from the base of the plant above dirt line. They look like shiny "bean" shoots. They are about 3 inches long and are very waxy looking.

Are these roots or new flower stems?

Thanks in advance.

  1. They are new shoots which will flower on 2 years time.. I have been defrocked but never deflowered,

  2. Depends on what type of orchid you have.  They sound like new plant shoots, that will produce leaves.  If they get the correct watering and fertilizer, among other conditions, they may flower.

I have never heard of an orchid being deflowered!!!  LOL

But I got the picture. LOL  Thanks for a good morning chuckle.
