  1. Here is an exemple : Hier matin, il tombait de la neige en abondance sur Paris.

Yesterday morning, There was snow falling in abundance on Paris.

But you could also say :

    - Il tombait, hier matin, de la neige en abondance sur Paris

    - Il tombait de la neige en abondance, hier matin, sur Paris

    - Il tombait de la neige en abondance sur Paris, hier matin

  3. You are raising two issues in one here.

The Imparfait and the sentence grammatical order.

The imparfait is the most common past tense with Plu-perfect.

    Example of Imparfait :

    INFINITIF/PRESENT (1st plural)/IMPARFAIT (1st singular)

    Avoir/Nous av-ons/j’ av-ais

    Parler/Nous parl-ons/je parl-ais

    Finir/Nous finiss-ons/je finiss-ais

    Aller/nous all-ons/j’ all-ais

    Venir/Nous ven-ons/je ven-ais

    Dire/Nous dis-ons/je dis-ais

    Prendre/Nous pren-ons/je pren-ais

    Boire/Nous buv-ons/je buv-ais

    Devoir/Nous dev-ons/je dev-ais

    Pouvoir/Nous pouv-ons/je pouv-ais

    Etudier/Nous étudi-ons/j'étudi-ais

    Manger/Nous mange-ons/je mange-ais

All are usually pretty much the same except for one verb:

    Être /vous êtes/j’ ét-ais

2)For the use of Imparfait, here a few example of correctly built grammatical sentences:

    a/For a description :

Il faisait beau, le ciel était bleu et le soleil brillait; les enfants jouaient dans le jardin avec le chien.

(It was a beautiful day, the sky was blue and the sun was shining; the children were playing in the garden with the dog)

b/A certain amount of time (with no precision on how far long it is) :

Quand ma mère était petite, la télévision n’existait pas.

(when my mother was little, the television did not exist)

    c/A habit:

Tous les jours, je jouais avec mon frère et je faisais mes devoirs après le dîner.

(Every day, I was playing with my brother and I was doing my homework after dinner).
