Question:

Order of Car Purchase, Insurance, and change of License?

Hi,

I'm buying a new car soon, but I've recently moved to rhode island from florida. I need to change my insurance to a new company because (getting off my father's policy), title the car in rhode island (and register it), get a Rhode Island driver's license, and register the car with the insurance company. What order seems most sensible for these things to occur?

  1. I would go get your Rhode Island drivers license first.  Then buy your new car and immediately get auto insurance coverage for it. You can get insurance coverage the same day with most insurance companies if you make a payment over the phone or on the internet.

  2. very intereting question.Suggest you have a look here for useful tips.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ca...

  3. it is going to be a little tricky for you since you are on your dads policy first find out if the state you are moving into had the same insurance carrier as the state you are coming out of. If they do good call them and tell them you would like a quote on the car you are purchasing have the vin number of the car. Get the quote call another company or 2 and take the best price. Now the same day you buy the car call from the dealership and tell them you want to start your policy you will probably need to give a deposit first. but explain all that to the agent they will advise you on how to get through the purchase.

  4. I recommend you locate a local car insurance agent to help. Since I live in New Mexico I can't recommend an agent in Rhode Island, but here is an website that can help you. http://www.multipleautoinsurancequotes.c...

    Good Luck.
