Question:

Ordering Toric contacts online, but not finding right Cylinder/Axis?

I have been trying to order contacts online all night but none seem to accommodate my needs. I have astigmatism in both eyes, which I did not find out until like 3 hours ago because I had never had an eye prescription before and my doctor didn't really speak to me at all. Anyway, now am I not only finding that they're waay more expensive than regular contacts, no one seems to have what I need. Both of my Cylinders are positive (+1.25, +.75) But all the sights just have negatives..

Any advice? Has anyone seen a website with these number or have suggestions?? Please help. And thanks bunches!

  1. That is because the conversion hasn't been done on your prescription to make it a contact lens prescription.

That is a spectacle prescription you have there.

You have to have a prescription written out specifically for contacts, with the brand and base curve also written on it.

The numbers will also be converted to match the brand you have been fitted with. You can't get toric lenses without having had trial lenses fit on you first.

Even the axis number will rarely be the same for a toric lens as it is for the glasses because of the rotation of the lenses, and available parameters.

You can't guess at what brand will work for you either. Out of 3 brands, two may not work for you at all...that's why they have to be fitted and checked by your eyecare provider first.
