Ordering prescription eyeglass lenses?

will the optometrist order prescription eyeglass lenses for you even if you didn't buy the eyeglass frames at their store?

  1. Many places will but there are things to take into consideration:

    1. You may end up paying more for the completed pair than if you had the optometrist sell you frame and lenses.  See if they can order the frame you like...you may get a better deal that way.  The frame model # is found on the arm of the glasses...usually two letters or the full name followed by a couple numbers.

    2. If they agree to edge lenses for you into the frame that you bought somewhere else, most places will not be held responsible if that frame breaks at any time...so it is at your own risk.

  2. Most places will. Our office does as long as you bring a recent lens rx, within a year. Most places will also require you to pay at least 1/2 of your total when you order.

  3. most places will... all you and all you will have to do is pay for the prescription lenses... You also have to make sure you have a valid prescription if this isn't the optometrist that wrote your prescription...
