Ordinarily you walk on the right side; why do some places have the escalator you use on the left ?

Denver Airport is an example of this.

I guess it is because of the foot traffic flow in the area where they put the escalator. For instance they expect most people to go to the left when getting off, and come from the left when getting on, and don't want everyone crossing each others paths and bumping into each other.

On a side note, Denver International Airport is a total mess of a design in terms of functionality. Its just poorly designed

other countries use the other side their and can handle yank escalators, why cant you?
