Springboks’ Coach Peter De Villiers, whose position was at stake after the Springboks’ poor performance this past year, has secured his position after beating England last Saturday.
South African Rugby Union President Oregan Hoskins spoke to media today and confirmed that De Villiers and his whole team management will stay at their current positions until next year’s World Cup and the union has no plan to
replace the team management.
The Springboks Head Coach Peter De Villiers and his whole management were under enormous pressure after a weak year and there were news that if the Springboks lose their last match against England then the whole management will
be fired including Head Coach Peter De Villiers.
Although the Springboks have faced many problems this year with many players out of the team due to injuries and two players being suspended due to positive dope tests , the team still had many experienced players, who were able
to deliver for the team, especially in their last match.
The Springboks only succeeded to win one match in the recently concluded Tri Nations Tournament. Moreover, last week’s defeat against the far weaker Scotland made it even easier for the South African Rugby Union to fire the whole
management but their performance against England saved them.
Oregan Hoskins, who was very pleased after the victory against England, said it is very good to end season with a victory.
"I think it was important psychologically to get such a result before the World Cup year, especially as England were on the up and did really well to beat Australia two weeks ago. I felt that the Bok team played to their strengths
and we could see why they are the World Champions."
When he was asked, what does he think about their World Cup winning chances? He said, he admits that this year has been very tough for the Boks but still he is really positive for the World Cup. Furthermore he said that the World
Champions Boks’ recent win over England will definitely help them to retain their World Cup.
Undoubtedly, the Springboks are a class side and if their injured players recover before the World Cup and the team follows their game plan, then no team will be able to stop their second World Cup win.
