When hexane C6H14, when passed over a heated catalysed,it was changed into two new hydrocarbons,P and Q.Hydrocarbon P can be converted intoQ by reaction with hydrogen in presence of nickel.

(a) In which homologous series does hexane belong to.

(b)Give a general formulae of this homologues series.

(c) i- name the process which turns hexane into P and Q.

ii-write the equation of this reaction.

(d)Name hudrocarbon P and Q.

(e)what is the name of the reaction that changes P into Q.Also write an equation for this reaction.

    b) An alkane has the general formula C(n)H(2n+2) (brackets mean subscript)

    c) Cracking

    C6H14 → C3H6 + C3H8

    d) P = propene, Q = propane
