Question:

Organics vs. Nutritional Information?

Hi there,

I was recently at the store, and I saw organic yogurt and just normal yogurt. My mom and I compared nutritional facts and found out that the NON organic yogurt was actually healthier than the organic! What is your view on this? Should I buy organic, or just the normal stuff?

  1. "organic" really refers to natural production practices with no harmful chemicals.....  those chemicals, such as pesticides, are not measured by nutritional information.  you have to compare like with like.  for example, if you compare the same size granny smith apple, one conventional and one organic, the nutritional info will be the same but the organic apple will have fewer residual chemicals.

  2. depends what it is.

if your looking at 'fat free!' non organic things they may appear healthier.

it's just that organic is grown differently and may have no chemicals and such. your choice!

  3. Not everything labeled organic or natural is really that. you have to read labels just as you did.
