Organisation of prokaryotic genome

thus, can i say that prokaryotes has only ONE chromosome, which is double stranded and circular? the ONE chromosome is the nucleoid?

  1. Prokaryotes do have one chromsome that is circular (it's not really double-stranded - the DNA molecule is double stranded).  However, that chromosome is not the nucleoid.  The nucleoid is the region of the cell where the chromosome is found.
