Organisers of 2012 US Grand Prix happy with proposed date change – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 Management chief Bernie Ecclestone has recently released the latest ‘version’ of the 2012 Formula 1 calendar according to which the US Grand Prix has been shifted from June to November.
After this announcement, the organisers of the US Grand Prix have also stated that they are happy with this date change and that they trust Bernie regarding these matters.
“While we have not fully analysed the implications of a potential change in race dates, we believe that any such change, if implemented by FIA, will not affect the eligibility of the Formula One event for the Major Event Trust Fund, but would merely affect
the timing,” said circuit organising committee board member Wayne Hollingsworth in a statement.
Other than that, this date change will not affect their state funding criteria either as a result of which, this is a perfect date for the event. The main reason why the organisers had to change this date was that the weather in Austin, Texas in June is
extremely hot which would have made it very difficult for the teams to work and even the Formula 1 cars would have had to go through a lot of issues because of the heat.
“And if the event date does in fact change, per the statutory requirements, we will update our application based on the new date and look forward to receiving approval later this year,” he added.
The Turkish Grand Prix has been excluded from the 2012 Formula 1 calendar as well and now it seems that 20 races will be held next year.
The Bahrain Grand Prix is expected to take place next year but this time, it will take place at the end of the year rather than the beginning.
According to Bernie, this change has been made in order to facilitate the organisers of the Bahrain Grand Prix and make it easier for them to organise the race keeping in mind that the country is going through a lot of political problems currently as a result
of which, the event was cancelled for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
