Organisers of Silverstone racetrack hoping for more developments – Formula 1 news
Silverstone went through some major upgrades before the 2011 British Grand Prix near the start/finish line area after which they have now recently announced that the track is going through some more upgrades now.
“This is the most important initiative that Silverstone has taken in its 60-year history. Approval of this planning application will help maintain Silverstone's position as a leading global centre for sport, leisure, education and technology, and support
its vision of becoming a world-leading motor sport destination,” said Silverstone Holdings Ltd managing director, Richard Phillips.
It took 27 million pounds for the organisers to improve and renovate the pits after which the teams stated that they are satisfied with this improvement and since they are going to improve the track furthermore, the organisers would require a major financial
backing.
With new tracks like the Yas Marina and some others, the bar has been raised for the older tracks now as the new Asian tracks are quite beautiful and in order to improve the standard of the sport even more, the organisers of the European tracks have also
decided to take the performance of the tracks up a notch.
According to some recent reports, it has been revealed that the organisers of Silverstone have requested a plan to build a business park, technology park, education campus, and the most interesting of them all, a Museum for Motorsports alongside a kart track
as well.
Other than that, this proposal also included a request for further spectator facilities and three hotels.
