Oriental Scot to take charge of the Hattons Solicitors Gold Membership Handicap at Haydock
Haydock will become home for the Class 3 Hattons Solicitors Gold Membership Handicap over a mile on Thursday, 24th May. Taking part in the race is a line-up of thirteen runners who will battle over the £6,663 prize money.
Oriental Scot, Selkirk’s five-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Robe Chinoise, has raced and won at Haydock but only during the previous season.
He won the Vale UK Handicap on 23rd September over a mile with a mere head’s margin while riding with Tom Eaves. Settling as the runner up was Robemaker while catching up with the third slot was Hacienda.
The 4/1 favourite of the race, Captain Bertie, ended thirteenth on the track of sixteen.
He has raced thrice during the new season and has not been able to post a victory since then. He ranked fourth, then slumped to the fourteenth position and got placed third in the most recent outing.
He ended fourth in his seasonal debut on 11th April in the Betfred Mobile Casino Handicap at Nottingham over a mile and half a furlong. The race was won by Neutrafa while Certral settled as the runner up.
Stage Attraction ended third, right before Oriental Scot. The 5/1 favourite of the race, Robemaker, ended fifth on the field of fifteen.
His most recent venture was the Core (Oil And Gas) LTD Handicap on 4th May at Musselburgh over a mile and a furlong. Staff Sergeant won the race and led the runner up, Lucky Windmill, by 1 ¾ lengths.
The 13/5 favourite of the race, Judicious, ended fourth with ten others racing.
It is high time that the five-year-old posted a win and he has one of the best chances at his disposal today as the rest of the line-up is pretty harmless.
The other entries who have tried their luck at Haydock could not produce a decent outcome.
An entry to look out for is Prince Of Burma, Mujadil’s four-year-old bay colt out of mare, Spinning Ruby. He has been active seven times during the new season and has claimed two races out of those starts. He got deprived of a seasonal hat trick due to a
seventh finishing at his first seasonal try at Kempton.
