Orientatious ready to make her seasonal debut after almost a year’s absence from racing
Finally, racegoers and fans will see more of, Orientatious, the 4-year-old filly who has been sidelined since last July, and now the Orientate filly will make her comeback in a second level $55,000 allowance race that has reeled in five runners over a distance
of six and one-half furlongs.
Trained by Michael Puype for owners James M. Davenport, Tom Lenner, Alex Solis II, and Skyline Stables, Orientatious debuted her racing career on 16 April, 2011, when she ran in her maiden special weight race over a distance of five and one-half furlongs
at Santa Anita Park.
The filly slightly missed the mark, as she was beaten by, American Lady, who posted a winning time of 1 minute and 2.27 seconds, as Artyua finished third.
However, Orientatious, atoned for her defeat in her second attempt to break her maiden, and successfully did so, as she romped to victory over the Betfair Hollywood Park’s cushion track over a distance of 6 furlongs.
On 22 May, 2011, Orientatious defeated Forever Neda and Born Lucky, who finished second and third respectively, with the winning time of 1 minute and 10.07 seconds.
Bred in Kentucky by Brandywine Farm and Liberation Farm, Orientatious’ last race of the 2011 season up till now was an a second level allowance/optional claimer on 23 July, 2011.
She successfully posted a second victory on the trot, where she defeated Home Sweet Aspen in second and Teddy’s Promise in third – both went on to win Grade 1’s later on.
Initially, Puype pointed Orientatious to a six furlong allowance race, but the race was rescheduled to an unknown date, and the uncertainty of the race’s timing hindered the filly’s workout sessions.
“The race has been dragging,” Puype said. “When races don’t go on target, it’s hard to adjust. But she trains hard enough; she’s had a lot of hard works.”
Ideally, Puype would have wanted to run in the 6 furlong sprint, but the same race was lengthened to run over a distance of six and one-half furlongs – which is beyond her established ability.
Orientatious is the speedier filly in the lot, as she earned a 95 Beyer in the last race she ran.
