  1. No but  it is why I never wish.

  2. i think it came from the bible

King david wished for his touch to make everything golden

so he touched his daughter and she turned into gold

  3. Aesop's Fables is the answer to you question.

The story is about a man wishing for death.

The most famous and well know is the Hare and the Tortoise:  Slow and steady wins the race.

Then there's The frog and the scorpion:  Beware the nature of the beast.

There are lots of very short stories (well fables) and just about all those 'wise' sayings come from Aesop's Fables.  I have read the book, just can't remember the names of all the stories.

    Here's a couple more sayings

    Look before you leap.

Don't try to please all the people, you only make yourself look a fool.

The book is worth getting hold of.  You can get from a book store though you may have to order it.  If you decide to buy the book, don't let them try to sell you the modern 'funky' version, get the proper version - it's a great book.

I read it when I was a child, which was a long time ago.

Thanks, you have inspired me to go into town next saturday and buy myself a copy of the book and re-read it.

    Cheers, take care.
