Origin of surname medvidofsky?

I'm trying to find trail of family named medvidofsky, went from russia to New Brunswick Canada late 1800's, early 1900's. There they took the surname of the postman - Ross. Would like info on either Medvidosky family, or family of Ross in New Brunswick area at that time
