I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the last name Seda. This is my paternal gray grandmother's surname and I can't find anywhere on the internet.

Just do a search on "Surname Seda".  You'll get a bunch of stuff back.

  2. This is from ancestry.com:

Jewish (Sephardic) and Catalan: metonymic occupational name for a silk merchant, from seda ‘silk’.

Portuguese: habitational name from a place so called in the Portuguese region of Alentejo.

Czech (Šeda): nickname from the adjective šedý ‘gray(-haired)’.

Polish (Seda): from Seda, a pet form of the Polish personal names Sedzimir, composed of the elements sadzic ‘to judge’ + mir ‘peace’, or Sedziwoj, from sadzic ‘to judge’ + woj ‘warrior’.

To find which one applies to your great grandma, you will have to do some research.
