Original family tree on Chives?

I have started to like chives after being at a restaurant that had sour cream with chives in it. learn ed it was from a family of onions or I could be mistaken. I was buying in bulk and noticed some people are confused with chives to coriander...Now I don't see any chives available in the bulk store? I was at a chinese supermarket and spotted their natural chive leaves and thought, hmm ok...

How do I make it a batch, I mean to have dried and use for my soups. Idk if I make sense...Do you follow?

  1. chives are onions, small ones

    they are great for spices

not sure how to dry them out, but any herb store will have a book on how to grow your own spices and store them guide.

  2. Chives are members of the Allium family, which also includes onions, garlic, leeks, and shallots.

To dry them, first you want to cut them with a kitchen scissors (or knife) into 1/4 to 1/2 inch little tube segments.  Cover a cookie sheet or other flat surface with wax paper.  Spread the cut chives out on the wax paper so they are a single layer thick and not in clumps.  Put them in a cool, dry place.  Depending on the humidity in your house, they should be dry in 1-3 days.

To store, put in an air-tight container and use as you like!

There may be a way to do this in a food dehydrator too, but I don't have one so I'm not familiar with that way.
