Original gift for 1 year old child.?

Hi I was wondering what to buy for my sisters baby, Got any ideas? Thanks for help!

You  should give her a toy I mean you can get cloth, money, whatever but these things isn't going to be something that they will enjoy so much, there is this site which has a whole bunch of toys that are also educational which is www.1888toys.com, its a huge and the toys are great for kids.

I had a friend do something fun for a child this age & mommy once.  She planned a whole afternoon outing for the child- took her traveling to visit both grandmas, went to a pet store where they let kids touch puppies and kittens and bunnies and watch the birds and fish- went to the beach and waded a bit & played with sand- I forget where all they went but it was designed to delight the child and gave mommy an afternoon off.  It cost almost nothing other than gas money.

Well, I always give clothes, because realistically, kids need a lot of clothes, and they grow up so fast that the ones they have now will soon be too small. An educational toy is also a good gift for a one year old, the kind with objects and holes with the shapes of the objects that helps stimulate kids. There's also a great gift out there that I bought for a friend of mine, it's a frame that comes with a type of putty inside, moms and dads press their kids feet and /or hands into the putty, and they get a cast- like in the Hollywood walk of fame- of their kids feet/hands. It goes in the frame and looks really nice, furthermore it's a nice memento of when they are small.

one thing i got for my 3 year old when she was 1..was a keyboard. i paid $20 for it, and it has been a favorite for  years.

it is one of those that has the 'keys' but also different background sounds and beats. anything to encourage musical appreciation is good at a young age.

another idea is books.  like mercer mayer, dr. suess, or collection of classic fables, or other books that help identify colours, animals shapes, counting ect.
