Question:

Original ideas for raising awareness of a social justice issue in my school?

I am a volunteer for a non-profit organisation, related to social justice, and I need to come up for some original ideas to spread awareness of the new campaign against child trafficking and slavery in my high school. Basically I want to educate and connect my local community and my school with the issue.

I'm tired of the classic posters, newsletter articles, speeches at assembely, etc. that we have already done. And this is purely advocacy, not fundraising.

At the moment we have a forum planned with students from local high schools to coming to a day of education and empowerment on the issue, where they will learn how to take the actions back to their own school communities. But I need something else!

Any suggestions please?

Thanks so much!

Peace.

  1. Participatory theater, where the youth take part in exploring a social justice issue through role playing. This is followed by the students themselves exploring possible options, and ending with everyone understanding what their many options are for engaging in social justice-related activities.
