Original xbox cleaning?

i have the original box and it sometimes read my games and when it does during the game it will say something like the disk you are using is dirty or damaged and i want to get that to go away and just play. should i take it apart or what? suggesttions please

Well, usually, it's not the console, it's the game. Look at it, if it has lots of scratches, or dirty marks on it, than it's the disk. But if the console is doing that to every disc you have, than it's the console. If it's the disc, take it to gamecrazy becuase they clean off the scratches for a buck. If it's the console, take it to a professional fixer, cuz taking it apart yourself might damage the chips inside.

I've had problems like that with my Xbox before. If you need to take it apart check out the link. There are tutorials on their on how to disassemble/repair the box. If you are at least a little handy then it's not that hard to take it apart. If you're not, then I wouldn't try.

You could also use a can of compressed air to blow out dust (although I believe this works best when the box is opened up, so that the dust is actually blown out)
