Chelsea defensive midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oriol-c28659 Romeu has denied rumours linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old revealed he intended to stay on with the UEFA Champions League winners and fight for his place in the starting line-up. Romeu made just 11 English Premier League starts in his debut season in the English Premier League after moving to the
London club from Barcelona.
Under former manager Andre Villas-Boas, Romeu was given more of a chance to prove himself. However, Villas-Boas was sacked mid-season following a string of poor results and caretaker manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo was made the interim manager.
Under the Italian, Romeu was given only two appearances. While the youngster was obviously disappointed with the lack of first team football, he insisted he intended to stay on with the Blues and earn his place in the starting line-up next season.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 under-21 international revealed he planned on honouring his contract with the Blues, and working towards proving himself worthy enough for a place in the first team. He admitted he was hopeful of more minutes on the pitch in the upcoming season.
Romeu admitted he was extremely proud of his side for having won the UEFA Champions League, a trophy he had always dreamed of since he was a child. them.
Romeu said in an interview:
“I have a contract, and my dream is to play. I demonstrated to myself that I could play early in the season, and I think I'm able. Hopefully next season I will enjoy more minutes on the pitch.
For me, the season at Chelsea has been spectacular, especially the achievement of winning the Champions League. It's something I always dreamed of as a child.”
Since joining http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the summer of 2011, Romeu has gone on to make 23 appearances in all competitions for the Blues. He has not managed to score his debut goal though, but has earned four yellow cards throughout the season.
