Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics -Ten teams likely to win NBA title next season: NBA Special (Part-2)
Orlando Magic is certainly a title contender side; they have been for a number of years now. Their quandary, one which has been affecting them for quite some time now is that they rely too heavily on one player – Dwight Howard.
And now, he is on the cusp of leaving the franchise.
Although, Magic qualified for the playoffs as the fourth seeds from the Eastern Conference but a 4-2 loss at the hands of Atlanta Hawks stopped short their surge towards the title. The only player from the Magic’s roster who impressed
with his performances was Dwight Howard. No other player came forward and played like him in entire season.
After last season’s bitter exit, the rumours were rife that Howard as might leave Orlando Magic. Howard had the option of opting early for the free agency and joining a title contender team next season. But all those speculations
died down after Howard decided to give the Magic another year, with a commitment that the Magic will induce more firepower in the supporting cast around him.
This has cut out the work for the Magic management. A championship in the near future will come to Orlando only if Howard stays there. It is evident that he is running out of time and patience. The Magic have to assemble a group
of game winners around Howard, if they are to win the next season’s title and have any hopes of retaining Howard.
However, if Howard finds some semblance of support around him, he has the talent and the ability to hand Orlando a championship.
Boston Celtics:
Last season, the Boston Celtics played with enormous confidence and qualified for the Conference semi-finals. Their performances were consistent but when they came across the Miami Heat in the Eastern Semifinals, their title campaign
came to an abrupt end.
However, the Celtics have still very good players who always tried their best to show good performance at every stage of play and possess the ability to win championships for their team.
The Celtics started the 2010-2011 National Basketball Association (NBA) season well. They played with total commitment and impressed many in the league. Their consistence performance in the regular season helped them to qualify
for playoffs where they swept the New York Knicks in the first round. The Celtics won total 56 and lost 26 games in the regular season.
