Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics wins: 5 April NBA Round-up 5 April, Part 2
Orlando Magic 78 - Milwaukee Bucks 72
The Orlando Magic defeated the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night at the Amway Centre, Orlando. Dwight Howard posted 18 points and 17 rebounds while Jameer Nelson scored 17 points for the Orlando Magic.
The Magic led the first quarter by 16 points and carried further this pace into the second quarter. The Bucks decreased the 16 points’ deficit to nine points late in the second quarter at 33-42.
The Bucks’ Drew Gooden was the one player who came to rescue his team and put the Bucks in a stronger position at the end of third quarter 55-57. The Bucks’ Brandon Jennings levelled the score at 61-61 early in the fourth quarter but could not continue this
pace as their defence gave the Orlando Magic many loop holes. The Orlando Magic converted these all chances into valuable points and finally won the match by 78-72.
Drew Gooden gathered 18 points for Orlando, while Keyon Dooling scored 10 points for Milwaukee.
Washington Wizards 107 - Detroit Pistons 105
The Washington Wizards beat the Detroit Pistons by 107-105 at Verizon Centre, Washington. Andray Blatche and John Wall posted 26 points each while Maurice Evans contributed 20 and Jordan Crawford scored 17 points in the Wizards’ win.
For the Pistons, their Greg Monroe scored 22 points and 14 rebounds while the Pistons’ four players scored 14 points including Austin Daye, Will Bynum, Tracy McGrady and Tayshaun Prince.
Overall the match was played at even pace. The first quarter finished in favour of the Wizards at 31-22. Soon the Pistons picked up the momentum and turned the advantage into their side at the end of the second quarter 54-52. The battle continued until the
Wizards proved more competently tough team and won the match by two point’s margin with 107-105.
Boston Celtics 99 - Philadelphia 76ers 82
The Boston Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers with 99-82 at TD Garden, Boston and clinched the number two spot in the Eastern Conference’s overall standings. Rajon Rondo posted 16 points and 13 assists while Kevin Garnett scored 14 and Paul Pierce added
18 points for the Boston Celtics’ tremendous victory.
Though the Celtics were trailing behind at the end of first quarter 26-24 but they combined themselves in an aggressive manner in the very next quarter and pushed the Sixers hard. The Celtics took the four points’ lead when the second quarter was ended at
56-50. The third and fourth quarter proved just a formality for the mighty Celtics who won the match with pretty ease with 99-82.
The Sixers’ Evan Turner scored 21 points, Elton Brand added 12 and Jrue Holiday scored 11 points.
