Why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near?

Perhaps you should be asking why do I show up every time birds are about to appear?

Does a tree that falls when nobody is around make a sound?

What I am saying is the birds would appear even if you were not there unless you are speaking of pigeons or gulls that have been conditioned to expect food from humans.

Sorry, I am not a real ornithologist but I do watch birds and count birds on a regular basis.
