I know most orphanages take all ages but at what age do people leave them without being adopted? Is it like 16 or 18 or something? Thanks in advance

  1. Are you referring to the USA?  I do not believe that the US has anymore "orphanages".  They do however have the Foster Care Program.  I believe that children "age out" of the foster care program at the age of 18.

  2. Where I live, children "age out" of the system at the age of 19, if not adopted by then.

  3. Foster children that finish high school or get a GED and turn 18 get out of the program. 21 if they are mentally handicapped. Some become homeless because they have no place to go. It's not the foster parents that do this. If a foster parent keeps the child past that time she could lose her other children. They are not  allowed to keep aged out children. This is what happens when cps takes a child out of homes.

  4. I think it depends on the country, but most kids age out long before we (in the U.S. or the U.K.) think of them as adults. 16 years old is probably the max.
