Ok...So usually I'm the one with ALL of the answers for b/c but I went to my gyno today and because of my headaches..he changed them.

He wanted to put me on Yaz..but I said NO. So, He changed my Ortho Tricyclen LO to a LOWER dose than I had before.

I'm a sunday starter and I never miss a pill and I've been on the other dose for 4 years. He didn't want to do it, he wanted me to change it completey...but yaz makes me sick. The other options were the pills that make you have your period every 3 months, and I do not want those..... I do want to have to get "adjusted" to another kind....

SOOO..

My question is...since he changed the dose, is it just as effective as the other dose? I think it's like..8mg difference.??? I would have asked him but he seemed very pissed and "THREW" my pills in a the bag....wtf?

Anyone know?

  1. your doctor was probably pissed because he felt as though you were threatening his authority.  When really you were just making sure you were getting what you were comfortable with. Some doctors have terrible bedside manner!  However, the birth control should be just as effective, sometimes the lower doses though cause for more breakthrough bleeding, and a little more inconsistent periods.  Like if you are a sunday starter you may get is monday next month and sunday the next.  I would suggest scheduling an appointment with another physician and talk to him about your concerns, and tell them about your experience with the other doctor.

  2. Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo is a lower dose of hormones, and rather than getting the same mix of hormones for 3 weeks, it adjusts (which is why there are three different colors to indicate that each week is differences). It's still adequate hormones to protect you....but feel free to ask more questions about it of the doctor...or look up the Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo website for more specific info.
