It is gonna be a 1 hour appt. and they want to get started if i am ready. Just an estimate when do you think i will get braces? Within a month of the first appointment? Also what are the rules when having braces? No soda or juice? Sorry i am curious and can't wait. Thank you :)

  1. well three months ago my big sister had her first appointment and tomorrow she is getting braces. and don't worry about getting your teeth pulled. it doesn't hurt

  2. Usually your first appointment the ortho will look at your mouth and then talk to you about what they want to do. You might get molds that day, or not. I can't really remember.  They might also fit you with spacers, little rubber band looking things they place between your molars to make room for brackets. The may make your teeth sore for a day or two but they are not bad at all. C:

They can start putting on the actual braces within like a week of having the spacers, I believe.

They give you a lot of rules about when you have braces for what not to eat and my advice is to follow that at first because those are typically hard to eat anyway. But I chewed gum, ate sticky candy, and all that bad stuff with braces and I never had a problem. In fact the only time I broke part of them was on a trip when I was eating an Oreo.

  3. it all dippendes on your teeth i had teeth pulled and 4 weeks later got spacers you probly wont get braces for 1to 2 months and the first time i would make sure that you have some apple scause in your house but other then that you shuold be fine i've had my braces for 1 1/2 yrs now good luck

  4. Trust me getting your teeth pulled out sounds painful but it does not hurt at all. And braces? When his putting braces on your teeth you cant feel anything! also the rules for having braces are:

To avoid eating hard, sticky food.Such as apples, lollies, etc

Also try to keep your teeth very clean. Cause the

more clean they are, the faster they're off :P

  5. about a month. It takes about 2 or 3 hours. On the first appointment besides making checks and everything they're gonna do impressions. They will look at ur teeth from inside so the can see how far apart they are basically if they're healthy and the size of ur braces,No sugary snacks often most of the time no soda chew up fruit and hard things.caz trust me u could easil break them.Good luck.Just to let u know its gonna hurt the first 2 days u get them but they'll give u peroxide to make ur teeth feel better.USE IT!Good LUCK!!!~:-)

  6. it really depends on the busyness of your ortho and dentist because its your first time it takes time to get started but once you get the braces on they will have time for you, which i think is stupid but thats the way they do it

  7. First you get an A in spelling..lol. That's correct. On your first visit the doctor will do an evaluation on you to first see if there is a need for braces and 2nd if now is a good time to do that. Your teeth might be ready but the person attached to those teeth may not be so ready. Also, just because you have crowding doesn't mean that you will need teeth pulled. Things have changed a lot over the years in orthodontics, and if possible most orthodontists don't like to pull teeth if they don't have to.

After the evaluation the doctor will want to take diagnostic records. Usually those records consist of 2 xrays, a panorex xray and a cephlametric xray, which is the side view of your head, so they can check out the relationship of the jaw bones with the rest of your face. Then some molds(models) of your teeth and then some pictures. Some facial shots and some intraoral photos. Once the doctor looks at all these things, he/she will make up a treatment plan on how to treat out your case.

After all that is completed and if you're ready. Braces and or appliances can be placed or fitted for. Then you'll be on  your way to a nicer smile. Good Luck!! You'll love it in the end.

A big thing to remember is to follow your orthodontist's instructions. It makes things go much faster. You should be in treatment for approximately 18-24 months. But by not following directions..it can go much much much longer. And in the end WEAR YOUR RETAINERS!
