Question:

Orthodox jews, do you eat poultry and dairy together? Why or why not?

The verse about meat and diary only speaks of boiling a kid in it's mother's milk, and birds don't lactate, so I have heard various explanations as to why the prohibition applies to poultry and dairy.

Would you eat meat with soy "cheese"? Or soy "meat" with cheese?

Why/why not?

  1. Do you ask christians if they believe in god?

  2. First, Fish is not considered Meat in Judaism.

Fish is considered Parve, which is neither dairy or meat product.

Therefore, Fish can be eaten with dairy, or Fish can be eaten with Meat, either/or.

Second, Poultry is meat product, even if a chicken doesn't lactate, we still do not eat any kind of meat with Milk.

  3. the truth is we are not allowed to eat meat and dairy together because the torah says that it's not kosher. Not only orthodox jews eat that way. I'm not orthodix and i eat that way!

  5. very good question indeed.

It might sound a bit "silly" but I think the reason why we r not supposed to mix poultry with dairy is that a rabbi might walk by and think is actually meat rather than chicken.

I dont mix dairy with meat but I do with poulttry...

If anybody here can give me a valid reason for this question I will definitely change my diet!
