Ortiz vs. Mayweather: Roger Mayweather, Danny Garcia confident of their fighters – Boxing news
Danny Garcia, who is the trainer of the current World Boxing Council’s World Welterweight Champion Victor Ortiz, has claimed his fighter will ruin Floyd Mayweather’s unbeaten record.
Meanwhile, the uncle and trainer of the undefeated American legend Floyd Mayweather, reckons Ortiz will just be another fighter for his nephew.
The five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather and Victor ‘the Vicious’ Ortiz will meet in a much-anticipated bout this Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena
in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 24-year-old Ortiz, who has won 29 of his 33 professional fights (2 Draws), with 22 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is 10 years younger to Floyd and since Ortiz is a southpaw, Garcia thinks his fighter will outclass Floyd in the ring.
“He did have problems with left-handers,” says Garcia. “I really think Zab Judah would've beat him, but Zab got tired. He was the better fighter than Floyd Mayweather, but he got tired. This time he's fighting
a left-hander with a lot more power, younger and hungry.”
Meanwhile, Roger Mayweather completely disagrees with Garcia, as he insisted Ortiz has no skills and without proper a skill set, a fighter cannot win.
The 34-year-old Floyd has an incredible unbeaten record for the past 15 years. He has won all of his 41 professional fights, with 25 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Therefore, Roger stated Ortiz will only regret after losing to his nephew like
everyone else.
“There's been a whole lot of fighters who woulda won, shoulda won, coulda won, but they didn't,” he said, grinning. “So when Victor Ortiz gets his a*s whupped, he's gonna say the same things all the rest of them said. ‘ I coulda, I woulda, I shoulda.' Yeah,
but you didn't.”
There has been a lot of hype created ahead of this mega showdown. Let’s see who wins this fight as it is certainly going to be an absolute classic.
