http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paraguay-c2979’s most capped player of all time, Carlos Gamarra, revealed that he wanted fellow countrymen, Oscar Cardozo, to end his playing career at Benfica. The mercurial forward has been linked with host of top European clubs but Gamarra claims that he should stick with the Reds.

Whether be it for his free kicks or virtuoso performances, Cardozo has usually ended up making the airwaves more often than not. His current form in Liga Sagres is also quite impressive, as he has netted seven times already.
With his mercurial talents, the attacker has regularly been on the radar of top European sides but a move has yet to materialize. During the summer, Dynamo Kiev were considered to be serious bidders for his services but the Ukrainian giants were priced out of the transfer by Benfica.
Although still plying his trade at Estadio da Luz, it is widely expected that Cardozo will eventually part ways with the Lisbon outfit in search of greener pastures.
However former Paraguayan defender, Carlos Gamarra, revealed that he wanted the striker to stay with the Portuguese club and perhaps even end his playing career at the helm.
“I hope so. If he's happy here and the fans like it, it's the best thing to do. He is a foreign player, who has scored many goals for Benfica and will score more,” he said when questioned if Cardozo should stay with the Eagles till the end of his career.
Gamarra also added that the former Newell’s Old Boys man was in regular contact with him and had even invited him to the game against Manchester United but unfortunately he could not make it.
“I talked to him before travelled and he is happy. He had told me to come here for the game with Man United, but I could not. Afterwards he told me that he even scored a goal for me [laughs],” Carlos Gamarra was quoted as saying.
Oscar Cardozo’s next game with Benfica will be against Portimonense after the International break ends.
