Oscar De La Hoya: Amir Khan and Danny Garcia both have equal chances to win – Boxing News
Oscar De La Hoya, one of the most renowned names in the world of boxing, commented Amir Khan and Danny Garcia bout will be an explosive one and both pugilists are skillful, adding that the chances of winning for both are equal.
Oscar, the former multiple-time world champion and owner of the renowned Golden Boy Promotion, the flagship sports promotional agency in the sport of boxing, recently shed some light on the highly anticipated bout between Amir Khan and Danny Garcia.
The bout is being organised and promoted by Oscar’s Golden Boy Promotions and he is looking forward at receiving an overwhelmingly excited and wild crowd since Amir and especially Danny have already laid the foundation of an arch rivalry and heavily hyped
bout.
The duo is scheduled to meet at Mandalay Bay Resorts & Casino situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States and the showdown will be televised live on July 14, 2012. The bout will not only witness Danny defend his newly acquired WBC light welterweight gold
but will also see Amir Khan’s previously owned WBA super world light welterweight title on the line as well.
During a media interaction, Oscar commented that both young men are tough pugilists and have attained much respect and accolades in their career. Amir Khan’s promoter, Oscar, was of the view that Amir and Danny both possess totally opposite brawling styles
which makes the collision more exciting altogether.
Oscar while putting forth his prediction, stated, “Amir Khan has to get through Danny Garcia, which is no easy task. This is a 50-50 fight for both guys. I think Amir Khan and Danny Garcia fight will be a tremendous one.”
When asked as to what are his views about the clash between two of the best and top 10 light welterweights, Oscar stated, “Danny is a relentless fighter and a strong puncher. He has awoken the beast in Amir Khan at ‘the Fireworks’ press conference and it’s
going to be a dangerous fight for both on July 14.”
Oscar further shared his thoughts about Khan’s future ambitions and opponents. When asked as to what he thinks about Khan’s clash with Floyd Mayweather, the former world champion, in a bit diffident and evasive manner stated, “If ever that fight presents
itself, it should be a great fight.”
One thing is for sure, Amir cannot get Floyd so easily in his very first bout at 147-pound, the reason why even Oscar was a bit hesitant in admitting that the take on between the Briton and the American Money boy is imminent.
At the moment, Khan just needs to concentrate on his upcoming Saturday night opponent. Khan needs to thrash the Danny obstacle in order to move up in the welterweight division.
