Oscar De La Hoya believes it will be a completely new ball game for Floyd Mayweather – Boxing news
Oscar ‘The Golden Boy’ De La Hoya, who is the founder of the Golden Boy Promotions and Victor Ortiz’s advisor, reckons the five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather, will be in trouble in his upcoming much-anticipated clash with Ortiz this weekend, September 17, 2011.
Floyd ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather will take on the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, Victor ‘the Vicious’ Ortiz, this Saturday at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. De La Hoya believes Mayweather will come to know he is no more a young pugilist.
“It’s a whole new ballgame, and Floyd’s going to find that out now that he’s 34,” De La Hoya said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Things start happening at 34. Your muscle mass is not the same. You make weight easier, but that’s not a good thing because you have less muscle.”
Former Mexican-American boxer, De La Hoya, who defeated 17 world champions and won 6 world titles in six different weight classes, also commented on Mayweather’s weight. De La Hoya stated he saw Mayweather weighing in at 149 lbs which is not good for him at all.
“I thought of that when I saw Floyd’s number at his 30-day weigh-in: 149,” said De La Hoya. “It’s not a good sign for Floyd. Everything is against him.”
The undefeated American legend, Floyd Mayweather, who has won all of his 41 professional fights, with 25 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is making a comeback after 16 months and he has claimed he will knock Ortiz out.
All that left to see is whether Mayweather can once again win his fight and protect his incredible unbeaten record. The 24-year-old Ortiz, who holds a record of winning 29 of his 33 professional fights (2 Draws), with 22 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is desperate to become the first man ever to defeat Mayweather.
