Oscar De la Hoya upset about officiating
“The Golden Boy” Oscar De la Hoya is profoundly upset with the ruling of the recent Zab Judah – Lucas Matthysse bout.
De la Hoya, who promotes Matthysse, believes his fighter was cheated out of a close decision.
"Matthysse clearly won but he was fighting in Judah's house and it seems that he had to knock him out to get the win," De La Hoya speculated. "He fought a great fight and this is something that is positive for him and not something negative. The door is
open more than ever for Lucas, especially at HBO, who are going to want to see him again very soon in another big fight at 140-pounds."
Against Judah, Matthysse suffered his first professional defeat in 29 professional fights.  His record is now 27-1 with 25 knockouts.
De la Hoya, who is currently in Mexico tying up fight negotiations for up-and-coming Saul Alvarez, further his claims by saying the Judah fight was a “very bad ruling.”
Judah met Matthysse in a comeback run to determine the IBF junior welterweight No.1 contender.  Judah is most recognized for a controversial 2006 bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr., in which he attacked Mayweather’s father.  The incident led to both corners
jumping into the ring and creating pandemonium, ending the fight.  Both sides were subsequently fined for their behavior.
As well as being a formidable boxing star, Judah recently launched his own promotional company, Super Judah Promotions, with the help of promoter Kathy Duva.  He anticipates promoting widely in the New Jersey area if a comeback run doesn’t take.
Judah was born in Brooklyn.  He is a former undisputed welterweight champion who accrued a sensational amateur record of 110-5.  In recent months he has stated he prefers fighting in the junior welterweight division because it suits his body weight more
naturally.
