Oscar Gonzalez: Giovanni Caro is tough but I will not allow him to tarnish my resume – Boxing news
Oscar Gonzalez, the WBC United States (USNBC) super bantamweight champion, recently shared his thoughts about the upcoming bout with Giovanni Caro and commented that Caro is a tough pugilist but he will not allow him to put a bad mark on his resume.
Oscar will defend his WBC title for the very first time against Giovanni in a 12-round bout which will be held on Saturday May 19, 2012 and the event is being promoted by Erik Morales of Box Latino.
The ring for the bout will be stretched at Monumental Plaza de Toros, Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico and the showdown will be televised live on Mexico’s state television Televisa. Oscar and Caro will headline the Saturday nights show whereas the bout between Pedro
Guevara and Raul Castaneda with former’s NABF light flyweight title on the line will co-headline the night.
Oscar and Caro recently met at the pre-bout press conference and shared their thoughts about the bout while vowing to put forth the boxing fanatics an impressive and memorable show.
Oscar has been in a total 19 bouts and emerged victorious in 18. He has lost just one bout in his career and has nailed 12 of his opponents by knocking them out cold. The Mexican surging pugilist is seriously overshadowed by Caro’s experience.
Caro, 28, has been in a total 37 bouts and boasts 23 wins. The young lad has nailed 18 opponents by knockout but has also tarnished his resume by 10 losses. Despite the fact that he has lost a substantial number of bouts, Caro still has an upper hand in
experience, win ratio, knockout proficiency and other significant brawling aspects.
It is this reason why even Oscar admitted his opponent’s talent and credibility and stated, “About my opponent, what can I say? He is a tough fighter and I am expecting a difficult fight but I am not going to let him put another bad mark on my record.”
Caro also put forth his resolve and commented, “I am 100% ready, I’m expecting a tough fight since my opponent is a dangerous one. I am bringing everything and I know it is going to be a great fight.”
Oscar is on a continuous win streak since his career’s only loss to Alejandro Delgado and Caro has just returned on the win track after two consecutive losses by collecting a technical knockout win over newbie Julio Cesar Torres.
