Oscar Sunset set to shine at Hereford – Novices’ Hurdle Preview
With the Severn Valley Catering Novices’ Hurdle set to begin at 3:40 (GMT) on Wednesday, March 21, Oscar Sunset seems to be confident enough to notch up top spot in the race and complete first ever hat-trick of his 3-race career.
The high-stakes Class 4 contest with £2,274 of prize money will take place at 2m4f long track of Hereford.
Oscar Sunset is supposed to run against Ballybough Gorta, Fred The Shred, Larkhall, Monturgeon, Noble Perk, Roses Legend, Storm Alert and Trackmate.
The Evan Williams-trained bay gelding started his career with a runner-up position on March 19, 2011. He ran for the very first time at Ffos Las.
The maverick young horse went on to finish first each in his two subsequent outings. Being a 4-11 favourite runner, he won Ludlowracecourse.Co.Uk Intermediate Open National Hunt Flat Race on October 5, 2011.
The dashing runner perpetuated his winning momentum and notched up the title of Bet Mobile At Victorchandler.Com Novices’ Hurdle on November 7.
Now, the novice horse is on a hat-trick which he will surely be able to complete by winning today’s contest. He has earned £5,200 as prize money so far.
Though Oscar Sunset’s chances to finish first are as high as 95 percent but some of his competitors like Noble Perk and Monturgeon can give him rather tough time.
Noble Perk accomplished runner-up rank in his maiden outing on January 8, 2011. The Adrian Wintle-trained young gelding gained 11th spot in his second race on April 2. The brilliant horse again earned a runner-up position in the third and last
start of his career on December 27.
On the other hand, Monturgeon finished third each in the first two outings of his career during April-May 2011. The trainee of Alan King went on to achieve runner-up spots each in the next three races from November 2011 to January 2012.
Thus, both these geldings are carrying a lot of confidence at the moment. In this situation, success is going to be a hard nut to crack for Oscar Sunset. Let us see who gains what. Good luck to all the runners.
