Oscar de la Hoya believes Khan can get on the track once again – Boxing News
After his career devastating knockout loss to unbeaten American fighter Danny Garcia, Briton fighter Amir Khan received ugly remarks from every nook of the world. What was most shocking for him was the fact that even his fellow Briton fighters were calling
him a ‘write off’.
Fortunately, Khan still has some admirers, such as David Haye and Oscar de la Hoya. Previously, Haye claimed that Khan is too young to be judged and that he has manifold years ahead of him to work on his weaknesses. Now, it is retired fighter Oscar de la
Hoya who is backing up Khan, saying that the Bolton proud needs just two more wins to be on the track once again.
“I believe the Mayweather fight isn't dead because Amir Khan is a tremendous boxer and puncher,” said Hoya, regarding Khan’s possible fight against unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather.
“We get him another win or two wins and he's back in the picture because of his talent and abilities,” he added.
“Amir Khan, he will be back. There's no question about that, Amir will be back. We'll definitely have to analyse where Amir goes next and talk to his team and talk to Amir,” added the US ring legend.
“But why wouldn't we want to see a rematch? Amir Khan was leading the whole fight. There are different possibilities for Danny and Amir, but one of those possibilities is a rematch,” said Hoya regarding the possibility of a rematch against Danny Garcia.
According to Hoya, anything is possible. He believes that Khan’s fight against Garcia was entertaining and so there should be another one to decide who is the better fighter.
It should be noted here that Khan was pressing Garcia for a December rematch but the now WBA and WBC light welterweight titlist went for a rematch against Mexican legend Erik Morales. Khan is now finding an opponent for a fight in December this year.
On the other hand, Garcia will be facing Erik Morales in October. Khan is still hoping for a rematch against Garcia, considering he was leading the fight until he suffered the great knockout hook by Garcia.
