Oscar de la Hoya not into making a boxing return anymore – Boxing News
Owner of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar de la Hoya has reportedly declined rumours of a comeback fight with former welterweight champion Ricky Hatton. However, Hoya did admit the fact that he was considering making a comeback at one point in time.
He revealed that he started training once again following news of Ricky Hatton’s comeback but he did not feel the hunger of fighting anymore.
“I got the urge to box again and went running. That was okay so I went back into the gym. But much as I want to fight, my body just can't  take the training,” said Hoya.
Hoya is yet another fighter who went into drugs and drinking following his retirement. However, fortunately, he soon recovered. Hoya believes that he is old and his body cannot take the training and beating anymore.
“I'm an old 39 now. Can't do it all over again,” he added.
Back in the days when Hatton and Hoya were at their best, fans were expecting to see both of them collide but it never happened. Once Hatton announced his comeback, rumours of Hoya doing it as well emerged. Fans were excited to believe that the ‘Golden Boy’
and the ‘Hitman’ can go head to head with each other.
Ricky Hatton is now scheduled to fight Vyacheslav Senchenko at the Manchester Evening News Arena. While most fans and friends are hoping Hatton to make a strong comeback, some former close associates are trying to keep the ‘Hitman’ away from entering the
ring once again.
“I’m sure that Vyacheslav Senchenko will give me a good fight. It’s one that I am confident I can win though. I believe this was as good an opponent as I could have had. I’m in great shape, I’m feeling good and I know I can put on a performance,” said Hatton
while announcing his opponent.
As of now, Hoya has clearly stated that he will not be resuming his professional boxing career. Probably, he is happy with the success of Golden Boy Promotions and his enjoying his retirement age. If he makes a comeback, he will surely fight Hatton, as he
knows how much fans wanted to see both of them fight.
