Oscar says no Margarito fight out of respect for Paul Williams! Say What???

How funny is this? Oscar told ESPN radio that he won't fight Antonio Margarito because he doesn't want to disrespect Paul Williams! Are you kidding me or what? Take a listen:

According to order there should be a rematch between Williams and Margarito. There's no reason for Margarito to duck Williams now. Paul Williams defeated Margarito fair and square by out working him. Threw more punches than Margarito believe it or not. Oscar should wait until some of these rivalries are settled and then pick a match. Then that would make Oscar's fight worthy. As a true boxing fan I would love to see Oscar fight the winner between Williams vs. Margarito or Malignaggi vs. Hatton. I'm in no hurry for a big event involving Oscar De La Hoya anytime soon. Give the real boxing fans what they want, a rematch against Williams. Ever since the defeat of Cotto, everyone has been rant and raving over Margarito. Obviously these people know nothing about boxing and probably just started to follow it. Cotto was overrated, nothing more than a Mayweather impersonator. No fight of his own. Margarito's not the best obviously. Paul Williams(26) was the younger fighter in their match. Daniel Santos(33) who also beat Margarito(26) was 7 years older than him. De La Hoya has only 5 years now. I know not much of a age difference. But for those Margarito riders that know squat about boxing. Don't under estimate De La Hoya, Margarito will not run all over him. I'm not even a De La Hoya fan. I agree with True L, but in my opinion Cotto didn't truly start boxing until the Zab Judah match. I don't even know how he beat Mosley. He didn't start landing accurately until the very last rounds. It should of been a draw. With the fall of Cotto, Pavlik's the next to loose. Trust me!

I'm tired of Oscar running from people he knows can whip his azz! He ain't no great boxer in my book. He's just in it for the money. He claims he is the big name in boxing and that's why he should get more than other fighters. Manny Pacquiao is a bigger name than him now and he's afraid to admit it. He uses $$$ as an excuse to get out of fights to save face- " Oh well, we couldn't agree on the purse so too bad". What a wimp! If Pacman or Margarito agreed to fight him for free he would still look for excuses. Oscar ain't shiiit!

At this stage in Oscar's career I cant see him dealing with Margarito, but Unlike Cotto , DeLaHoya is close to Margarito's height and weight and is the much more skilled boxer.

If DeLaHoya takes this fight I think he can knock out Margarito, but If he does not take it then Im just going to assume he knows he doe not have anything left to tackle Margarito with,

If he chooses not to fight Tony, then Id say **** Mora and the WBC, go get Trinidad and settle the old score and be done with it.

I dont really need to see Margarito vs DeLaHoya, I mean in Oscars prime when he was fighting 4  or 5 times a year I know Margarito would not make it the distance. But now? Oscar is fighting once a year and is a business man and If Margarito wins, so what.

The only thing that sells this fight for me is the coming together of two Mexicans, Young Lion vs Old Lion so to speak, the fight could be a passing of the Mexican torch.

But Id rather see Trinidad-DeLaHoya wrap up old business, Oscar should have two more fights, beat Trinidad then Take Mora's WBC title and retire with the title he started with and held most of his career. Its a good way to go out for his career.

Let Margarito man up and Give Williams a rematch! After all the talk he has done about guys avoiding him, It sounds as though he is talking his way out of a Williams rematch, if he turns around and avoids Williams then hes nothing but hypocrite weight cheat who cant beat guys his own size.

You got to be crazy. Oscar is past him prime now. I don't think Oscar cant beat Rito now but in his prime would box the h**l out of him. Maybe not because Oscar has had stamina issue's. Just because Cotto couldn't out box Rito doesn't mean it haven't been done. Cotto is not a complete boxer and never had to box circle around a person. Rito would make anybody look like a boxer, with his bad defense. Williams out boxed Rito, news flash. Just because of what Cotto did to Gomez and no defense Mosley, people were for sure he was going to box Rito to a UD. They was over hyping Cotto supposedly boxing skills he never used in his career. Oscar boxing skills is better than Cotto boxing skills by far. Boxing has been Oscar style his whole career. Cotto didn't start trying to box, until the Mosley fight. Cotto has been walking threw smaller guy's with a weak chin and only had that come forward type of style. Getting rock a couple of times, they wanted to get him out that one style type of fighting.

hey man it's funny how these people are saying ODL is a better boxer than AM and he will beat him, PLEASE that's what they said about cotto and end result KO. then the other guy say's ODL will knockout AM, ODL couldn't knockout a small steve forbes. they don't know nothing about boxing. if this fight was to happen AM will K.O. lol boxing doesnt always win at all, personally i dont think de la hoya has been impressive for the past 10 years, he always picks his fights, but it doesnt mean he is a bad boxer, he is just a finished /semi good boxer trying to make some money before he retires, trying to make as much money as possible actually, he will never ever fight people like margarito, one because they are mexican and two because he has to much a chance of losing all credibility in the ring just like arturo gatti, plus the chance of a serious injury before his so called 'retirement', margarito is to dangerous against oscar, so i think we will see oscar fight someone like forbes again, or an up and coming ibo champion from another weight class, he has nothing to prove any more, but if he does fight a bum in his last fight, he will lose a h**l of a lot of credibility, and that aint no way to go out, because it still aint certain he will win against a chump
