He feels that he has done enough in recent months to prove his worth to the team and hopes that this would help him secure the number 10 jersey.
"I know that I've been helping the team quite a lot," he said in a recent interview.
"I need to put in some high-level performances in friendlies. And I think that I've proved that I've got the ability to become the No.10 for the senior
Selecao too."
The playmaker has been playing key roles for club and country recently. He represented Brazil in the Under-20 World Cup and went on to score a hat trick in the final game of the competition.
At the moment, he has been given the number 11 jersey at Chelsea, because of the fact that Juan Mata wears the number 10 jersey at the club.
