Oslo to Bergen - cheap train?

Question

Dear folks, We want to go to Bergen from stockholm by train. we have made this scenic (and expensive) train journey from Oslo to Bergen before. Is there some other cheap train that runs from oslo to bergen? are the night trains in this route cheaper because you dont get to see the scenery anyways? Any suggestions are welcome, please.

P.S : we cant take a flight, due to other reasons.

Most trains I found, (I just picked a date,) are the same price:

739,-, some trains are much cheaper: 399,-.

Both in the local currency.

I see no reason why some trains are cheaper than others, but if you know when you want to travel, do it for yourself and see what happens.

Play around with the date and time of travel, so you can see if you can save some money on the travel.

There is, as far as I know, no other company on the Norwegian Railways, the only other option would be a coach or bus, but I have never found a useful site for Norway and bus travel.

PS, the days are long in Norway, and in early summer the nights will not get dark at all, so you will always have view from the windows. But railways do price their tickets on what the customers are willing to pay and how much a train cost to run at that time of day, not on whether you get to see something.
