Ossie Duran wins through Technical Knockout Decision against Latif Mundy – Boxing news
The Ghanaian national professional boxer, Ossie Duran won a 10th round Technical Knockout Decision over the Middleweight contender, Latif Mundy in their USBA Regional Middleweight championship bout on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Robert Treat
Hotel in Newark, New Jersey.
The time was 2:29 when the referee Lindsey Page ruled the bout off in favour of the Middleweight contender, Duran.
Eugene Grant, John Poturaj and Robert Perez were performing their duties as the judges of that competitive bout. The fight was promoted by the Gulfstream Group, which is Jersey City based promotional firm.
Duran scored his third consecutive victory against American national, Latif Mundy.
The 34-year-old experienced, Duran has been an outstanding performer since he joined boxing as a profession. Ossie ‘The Ghanaian Gladiator’ Duran made his debut winning Technical Knockout Decision against d**k Dosseh in 1996 at Togo.
After winning four back-to-back competitions, Duran faced the first ever loss of his career, when he lost a 10-round points decision against Ike Obi in 1997 in Nigeria. Duran fought a total of 36 fights of which he won 26 competitive bouts including 10 knockout
victories with 8 considerable losses and 2 draws in his professional boxing career.
The second loss came Duran’s way when he lost the 12-round points’ decision against David Tetteh in 1998 at Accra in Ghana. After this loss, Duran made his comeback to the ring after more than a year which resulted into another loss for him. Ganny Dovidovas
won a fourth round points’ decision against him in 2000 at the York Hall, Bethnal Green in London, United Kingdom.
The 28-year-old, Latif Mundy faced the third professional loss of his career. Mundy fought a total of 14 fights of which he won 10 competitive bouts including four knockout victories with three losses in his professional career. In his early days after turning
pro, Mundy impressed every one.
Mundy won eight consecutive fights against the best opponents of the world. He faced the first ever loss of his career fighting against Patrick Majewski in 2009 at the Bally’s Atlantic City in New Jersey, United States. The second fight loss came his way
when he lost a Technical Knockout Decision against Gabriel Rosado in 2009 at the same venue where he lost the first ever fight of his career.
Hopefully, Mundy will try to learn from his past mistakes and he prove to be a competitive one next time.
