Ostentation hot favourite for Bath Ales Salamander Handicap
Ostentation is likely to dominate proceedings in the Bath Ales Salamander Handicap at Bath in England on Friday, June 8, 2012. The winner of the class-5 event will be awarded a cash prize of £2,264.
The going will be good to soft in the 1 mile, 2 furlong and 46 yard event, which is scheduled to start at 18:30 GMT. Following runners have been attracted towards the race: Ostentation, Edgeworth, Only You Maggie, Jalors, South Cape, Resplendent Light, Signora
Frasi, Gordon Flash, James Pollard, Gallego and Beggers Belief.
Boogie Dancer, Stargazy and Golden Waters were also scheduled to take part in the race, but their names have been withdrawn by their respective trainers. The track conditions are not in their favour, thus this decision has been made.
However, there will still be a lot of thrill for the spectators at Bath, as there are some very good runners lined up for action today. One of them is Ostentation, who has been in splendid form over the past few events. He has been awarded with the best
odds, as no one seems to be in a position to match his skills. Due to this, the punters will also be looking forward to risk a lot of bets on him.
The five-year-old gelding has taken part in 29 races in his career, winning four of them and finishing runner up on a couple of times. In addition to that, he has also secured the third spot on six occasions, which shows that he is fully capable of fighting
at the front regularly.
Although the Alastair Lidderdale’s trainee does not have a good strike rate, his recent form suggests that he will not allow anyone else to come closer today. He was victorious in his previous outing, which shows that he is carrying a terrific momentum at
the moment.
Ostentation was rated as joint favourite back then and he completely dominated his opponents, winning by almost three lengths. He will be partnered by Nicole Nordblad, who has got a decent record at this level. His strike rate is improving continuously,
which is a positive sign for any jockey.
Other than the race favourite, Edgeworth might also manage to make an impression in the race at Bath.
