Osteopathic Remedy aiming to win the Totepool.com Thirsk Summer Cup at Thirsk
Thirsk will host the 1 mile Totepool.com Thirsk Summer Cup on 4th August, 2012, where the runners will compete for the £19,407 on a surface that has been labelled good.
In this line-up, Osteopathic Remedy is likely to stand out and trump this. The son of Inchinor has not been doing well in his last three starts, but was at the top of his game before that.
Foaled by Dolce Vita, the eight-year-old holds a 9-4-5 record in 65 starts. He has familiarity with the track at Thirsk, which will play to his advantage.
He competed here on 5th May, 2012, in the 1 mile Totepool.com Thirsk Hunt Cup, where he lost the victory by 6 lengths to Godolphin’s Farhh.
If he returns to the track in this form, then he will be hard to beat. The chestnut gelding has experience compared to other runners competing, and he can handle this track well.
Thirsk was also lucky for the Kevin Kirkup owned runner, when he competed here on 30th July, 2011, and landed the victory over the David Nicholls trained, Mujaadel, over the distance of 1 mile.
Now, returning to the track with all the elements he needs for winning, the Michael Dods trained gelding will probably walk home with the victory.
With the best odds of 14 to 1, he will be mounted by rider Lee Topliss, and break from post 2.
The Ed McMahon trained, Venutius, is making quick progress and is on his way to the top. His last two starts showed how capable he is of notching the victory in this race.
Paired with Franny Norton on 23rd June, 2012, he claimed the narrow victory by a neck over, Epernay, in the Christie Charity Raceday Handicap, which covered the distance of a mile.
The five-year-old tried his best, but lost the victory by half-length to Lockantanks in the Ripon-races.co.uk Handicap on 21st July, 2012, where he was mounted by Franny Norton.
Today, the son of Doyen, out of mare Boadicea´s Chariot, will be mounted by Shane B. Venutius needs to step it up to win, but chances are that the race will be landed by Osteopathic Remedy, who likes the track at Thirsk enough to win.
